INEZ — Martin County (4-2) hosted Letcher County Central (6-3) on April 1 in week 3 of baseball action. The Cards fell to the Cougars 5-2.
The Cougars scored five runs on four hits against the Cardinals pitching staff. Martin County managed two runs on nine hits.
Cardinals Aiden Horn and Dylan Hale led with a .667 batting average for the night. Horn stole a base with the Cougar on the mound snoozing and Hale cranked a double.
Damian Cheek went 2-4 at the plate. He slugged a double-bagger and delivered a teammate to home with an RBI. A
Martin County’s Chase Stacy pushed a Cardinal into home territory.
Eli Mills went 1-for-2 and plated a run for the home team.
Jack Cline stole a base and scored the second run for the Cards. Hunter Moore went 1-3 at the plate.
Stacy started on the mound for Martin County. He pitched six innings at 99 tosses from the dirt. He struck out four batters at a 1.17 ERA.
Hale struck out one on 11 pitches.
The squad was scheduled to host Pikeville on Monday. Details were not available at press time.
Martin County will host East Carter this Saturday at 11 a.m. and Betsy Layne at 4 p.m.
