The Inez Fire Department sprang into action during severe flooding last week, rescuing 12 individuals across Martin County.
Crews first responded to Blacklog, where they rescued two stranded motorists. They found another stranded motorist on Route 40 in Tomahawk and one more at the mouth of Halls Branch.
As water levels continued to rise, firefighters deployed a boat to Fields Trailer Park in Tomahawk. They safely evacuated seven residents trapped by encroaching floodwaters.

In a separate call, responders safely evacuated a woman and her dog on Gayle Carter Road after her home filled with natural gas fumes while surrounded by floodwaters.
After completing the rescues, the crew returned to their Tomahawk station only to find floodwaters from a nearby creek had breached their facility.
