Charles ‘Dick’ Tipton
1948—2025

Charles “Dick” Tipton, age 76, of Inez, passed away March 31, 2025, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 20, 1948, to the late Edgar and Grace (Blackburn) Tipton in Inez.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by one brother, John “Ribe” Tipton, three sisters, Verlie Wilson, Barbara Castle and Beverly Horn, and one grandson, Owen Childers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Phyllis Ann (Copley) Tipton of Inez; one son, Bryan Richard Tipton of Prestonsburg; one daughter, Tanya (Walter) Jackson of Debord; one brother, Eddie (Peanut) Tipton of Columbus, Ohio; and a daughter-in-law, Jamie Belcher. Charles is also survived by eight grandchildren, Chase Childers, Kennedi Tipton, Nicholas Jackson, Justin (Alice) Jackson, William Jackson, Austin Jackson, Ashlee Belcher and Hannah Belcher, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Charles was a member of the UMWA Local 93 and the Vineyard United Baptist Church. 

Funeral services took place Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Crum Funeral Home, with James Maynard officiating. Burial followed at the Tipton Family Cemetery in Inez under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
