INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:

Willis Horn, 34, of Inez, was arrested Saturday on Big Elk in Beauty for reckless driving, fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified).
Deputy J.C. Kirk responded to a report of an intoxicated individual operating an ATV in the Big Elk area of Beauty. Kirk stated he observed the ATV leaving the center of the roadway and driving erratically. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver allegedly continued for approximately three-quarters of a mile before stopping.
According to the arrest report, Horn did not initially comply with the officer’s commands and instead removed a loaded firearm and a pill bottle from his person and placed them into the ATV’s glove box. Deputy Kirk reported that the loaded handgun was within reach of the children.
Authorities said Horn had 12 Gabapentin pills, as well as additional pills stored in a Diazepam bottle.

Clayton Jude, 51, of Pilgrim, was arrested Saturday on South Wolf Creek in Pilgrim on two bench warrants. Constable Bradford Preece served the warrants.

Paige Blackburn, 30, of Inez, was arrested Saturday at a safety checkpoint in Beauty on a bench warrant for court. Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest.

Dallas Maynard, 72, of Pilgrim, was arrested Thursday in Pilgrim for criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, menacing and resisting arrest. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd responded to an altercation in progress at Verlia’s Kitchen. At the scene, witnesses informed the officer that Maynard had knocked electronics off the counter and flipped tables over. When confronted, Maynard took an aggressive stance and tightened up his body, clinching his fist. He was yelling and screaming obscenities.
When the officer told Maynard he was under arrest, Maynard became combative and would not submit to hand restraints.
“He was able to destroy the double lock mechanism of the restraint,” Kidd said.
Ultimately, law enforcement subdued Maynard and sent him to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
