Denny Ray Moore
1959—2025
Denny Ray Moore, age 65, of Inez, passed away on March 30, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on Sept. 30, 1959, to the late Joe and Susie (Preece) Moore in Paintsville. In addition to his parents, Denny Ray was preceded in death by one brother, Delmer Lee Moore and one sister, Eillene (Moore) Patrick.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy (Howard) Moore of Inez; two sons, McKinley Ray Moore of Louisville and Houston Raymond Dalton of Tomahawk; one daughter, Kayla Moore (J.R.) Vanhoose of Paintsville; one brother, Thomas Mitchell (Brenda) Moore of Frankfort; two sisters, Diana (Jerry) Norris and Connie (Joe) Staton, both of Inez; one sister-in-law, Brenda Moore; and a host of very special nieces and nephews. Denny Ray is also survived by one granddaughter, Taylor Vanhoose, his rescue dog, Sissy, and all of his grandpets.
Those who knew Denny Ray will affectionately remember him for his good humor, his famous one-liners, and his larger-than-life personality. He was a protector of all those he loved and always willing to fix any problem at hand- especially if it involved using a hammer. His love for the outdoors and adventure brought on many friendships, and his unwavering loyalty kept those relationships close no matter the miles or months apart. The only woman for him was his beloved wife, whom he married not once but twice. They enjoyed their golden years together, serving their church and loving their children well. He enjoyed being a father and wasn’t shy about bragging on his kids or his son-in-law to anyone and everyone.
Funeral services will take place Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home, Inez, with Morgan Kirk, David Stacy, Buddy Stacy and Walker Fields officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain Valley Memorial Garden in Inez. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his home church, Bethel United Baptist Church or the Kentucky Humane Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
