INEZ — Coach Steven Gauze kicked off the Martin County Middle School soccer season with a 6-0 victory over Ashland on March 18 and an 8-0 win over Boyd County in Inez on Thursday.

“I’m happy with the way we are playing right now. We have everybody back from last season, so the girls know their positions and what I expect. Last season this group made it to the semi-finals so I expect better this year,” Martin County coach Steven Gauze said.

Annaleigh Davis booted in three goals and one assist to lead the Lady Cards. Anna Hinkle and Maddy Goble kicked in a goal each. Jaz Jude scored a goal and assisted on two. Hope Caldwell and Alivia Stacy came in with an assist each in the 6-0 win over Ashland at The Rock.

Davis was on fire to start the season off last week. She sent four between the goalposts and assisted on one. Jude fired in three goals in the 8-0 win over Boyd County. Stacy scored a goal and Aubree Muncy assisted on two. Hinkle and Emily Mills kicked off to a teammate for an assist each.
