Martin County Arrest Report

INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:

Deanna Wiley

Deanna Wiley, 25, of Inez, was arrested March 20 on KY 3 on charges of endangering the welfare of a minor, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation for a felony offense.

Chief Deputy Chris Kidd responded to the scene where a fire had broken out in an apartment reportedly without electricity. A single yellow extension cord running from an upstairs unit to Wiley’s apartment had caught fire. According to relatives living upstairs, the cord supplied power to Wiley’s apartment, where she lived with two young children. The police report states the cord was connected to space heaters, a TV, kitchen appliances and other electronics inside the home.

Wiley reportedly told police she had been asleep and was awakened by her juvenile son screaming. She said that by the time she reached the living room, the fire had already spread to the ceiling.

Firefighters on the scene reported seeing drug paraphernalia on the kitchen table. Wiley allegedly told officers it was “just marijuana” and claimed to have a prescription. The suspected marijuana and a grinder filled with suspected marijuana were on the kitchen table in direct reach of two juveniles in the home, authorities said.

Police contacted the Department of Social Services, the children were placed into protective custody, and Wiley went to jail.

The deputy observed that the home’s front door had been knocked off its hinges. Inside, a 3-year-old boy was found asleep in a bedroom.

According to the police report, Griffith and Crase admitted to getting into a verbal argument over alleged infidelity.
