LENORE — An event dedicated to the memory of Kennadi Mollett will take place June 13-15 at Lenore Community Center. E & A Hoop Dreams announced the inaugural Kennadi Mollett Memorial Tournament that will feature high school girls’ teams and 7th and 9th grade boys’ teams.
“Kennadi had a huge impact on the youth in the community,” League owner Andrew Evans told the Citizen. “There was never a time she wasn’t available to young people to play, talk, teach or just be silly.”
Mollette, a Martin County player who mentored at E & A, tragically passed away in a car accident in November 2024, but her legacy lives on.
“She mentored athletes at E&A the year before she passed,” said Evans. “I personally coached Kennadi in 8th grade and 10th grade. We formed a close bond in those seasons as she did with my own child.”
Evans plans to present and display a banner of Mollett.
“Keeping her memory alive is of utmost importance to me and all of us at E&A Hoop Dreams,” he added. “It is something we will do with this tournament, and we will do it every day in our personal lives as well.”
The entry fee for the tournament is $100.
Lenore Community Center is at 19 Laurel Creek Road.
