The Big Sandy Area Community Action Program will launch its annual garden seed program on April 7. The program offers $50 vouchers to eligible households for the purchase of seeds, plants or fertilizer to grow home gardens.
It will run through April 11 or until funds are gone.
To qualify, households must have income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.
Apply in person at a local CAP office.
Applicants must provide income documentation for the previous month, Social Security numbers for all household members, and a metered utility bill to verify their physical address.
Funding for the program, in part, comes from the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
