PUNTA GORDA, Fla. / LOUISA, Ky. — The ARCHway Institute (AI), a nonprofit focused on addiction recovery and behavioral health, has appointed Matt Brown as its new chief executive officer.

Brown, a Louisa resident in long-term recovery from substance use disorder, is nationally recognized in the recovery services field. He brings both professional experience and personal insight to his new role, the institute said in a press release. The Punta Gorda, Florida-based organization said Brown’s expertise makes him a valuable addition to its mission.

Dan Stuckey, chairman of AI’s board, called Brown’s appointment a turning point for the 13-year-old organization.

“ARCHway is so excited to have Matt Brown join us as our new CEO,” Stuckey said in the statement. “ARCHway is at the doorstep of dramatically increasing our ability to serve and help more families and individuals through the ARCHway Institute and the National Peer Recovery Alliance, which is a division of ARCHway. We are incredibly confident in Matt leading us in this step change through his professional experience, lived experience and interpersonal skills.”

Brown succeeds Emily Stuckey, who served as CEO for several years and will remain with AI as chief operating officer. According to the release, she is stepping down to reduce travel and spend more time with her newborn.

In his new role, Brown will focus on strategic partnerships, program expansion, peer support services, peer development and training. He will ensure that individuals and families seeking recovery have the resources and support they need.

Brown described the appointment as an honor and praised the institute’s mission.

“ARCHway has a proven history of breaking down barriers in recovery,” he said. “I look forward to working alongside this incredible team to further that impact.”
