It’s the best time of the year, folks. March Madness is upon us.
We finally won an SEC tournament game, and boy, did Otega Oweh make staying up till 1 a.m. on a weeknight worth it.
We’ll try not to talk about the fact we blew a 14-point lead.
But if Butler doesn’t go out, I think we win by as much.
With him, Robinson, and Kerr out, we had zero ball handlers on the floor.
Oweh made some mistakes toward the end but more than made up for it.
It’s a moment I wish I could live over and over again.
The fact that Butler was out against Alabama, and we couldn’t hit the broadside of the barn was a recipe for disaster.
I’m looking forward to the NCAA tournament though.
I think Mark Pope has already exceeded expectations and I do see a Sweet 16 for us this year.
But our region is no cakewalk.
As we know from years past, getting out of the first weekend is no longer a given for us.
As long as Butler stays healthy and the injury bug doesn’t hit us with anyone else, we should win a few games.
I really don’t want to be on the other side of a Cinderella story again this year.
If we get past Troy, playing Illinois, Texas, or Xavier is not ideal.
And the possibility of Tennessee for a third time this year isn’t sitting well with me either.
I do know that I’ve enjoyed watching this team this season.
To me, Auburn got a tough draw as the top seed. In my opinion Duke has the easiest region. Who would have guessed that?
I like the possibility of a Rick Pitino-Calipari match-up.
If Big Blue falls short this year, I’ll be pulling for St John’s.
Oh, and little brother Louisville, to put it simply, got screwed.
The Cards are 10 in the AP poll but receive a 9 seed. There’s no explanation that the committee can give me that would suffice as an answer.
And what’s up with West Virginia getting snubbed, but North Carolina gets in?
There’s always controversy with the last four in and first four out. But these are some real head-scratchers.
But no matter, I’ll be filling out my bracket with the Cats all the way meeting St. Johns in the championship.
Not likely; it’s just something I want to see.
Hopefully Mark Pope keeps our boys focused on one game at a time and we keep on dancing.
Go Cats.
