NAUGATUCK, W.Va. — The seedings and brackets have been released for the upcoming Class A Super Regionals involving Tug Valley’s Lady Panthers.

The first-round regional tourney game for Tug Valley (19-2), ranked No. 2 in the state in Class A, will be Friday, Feb. 28. Gilmer County received the No. 1 seed.

Coach Seth Ooten’s squad received the No. 2 seed for its 10-team Class A Region 4 tourney and has a first-round bye. The Lady Panthers are set to open up at home against the winner of the Feb. 25 play-in game between No. 7 Wirt County (9-11) and No. 10 Hannan (2-18).

“Gilmer County is very deserving of the one (1) seed. Even though it makes our road a little harder being at No. 2 we love the challenge and the girls are ready to compete for the opportunity to play at Charleston. Any time you can play at home, especially at Naugatuck in front of our fans, you have to be excited about that,” Ooten said.

“As a coach you always want your team to improve as the season goes on. This group of girls have become more and more dangerous with each practice and game. They’re exactly where they need to be going into elimination play,” Ooten added.

The seedings were voted on and tabulated by the respective coaches within the regions.

All games have tipoff times set for 7 p.m. as per the WVSSAC.

If Tug Valley wins they will play Wednesday, March 5 against opponents to be named later with state tournament berths on the line.

There will be no regional championship games under the new single-elimination tournament format.
