
James Warren ‘Fatso’ Fannin
1948—2025
James Warren “Fatso” Fannin, age 76, of Tomahawk, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 17, 2025, at Community Hospice in Ashland.
He was born Sept. 5, 1948, in Martin County to the late William Walter and Ida Mae (Hensley) Fannin.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, William Scottie Fannin and Kevin Spence, and one brother, Milo Joe Fannin.
James “Fatso” is survived by his wife, Carole Avon (Hatfield) Fannin of Tomahawk; five sons, Joseph Warren (Tammy) Fannin, James Wesley (Claudia) Fannin, Trint Fannin, Jamie Spence and Jason (Kayla) Spence; two stepchildren, James Christopher (Melissa) Sizemore and Jessica “Jessie” (Rick) Fannin; three brothers, Jerrell (Edna Sue) Fannin, Etzel Dale “Bear” (Sue) Fannin and John Larry (Brenda) Fannin; one sister, Henrietta James; and one sister-in-law, Brenda Fannin. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Austin Fannin, Harley Fannin, Havoline Scott Fannin, Emmalea Grace Fannin, Blake Spence, Bentley Spence, Kevin Lee Spence, Blake (Brittany) Sizemore, Brooklynn Sizemore, Colby Barker, Jestin Barker and Leland Barker; two great-grandchildren, Jace Sizemore and Hadley Sizemore; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Feb. 22, 2025, at the Zion United Baptist Church with Lonnie Ratliff and Elijah Collins officiating. Burial followed at the Fannin Family Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
