St. Joe outscored the Panthers 16-11 in the third quarter to cut into the lead, but TVHS outscored the visitors 14-10 in the final 8 minutes to pull away.

“It was a good win over a regional opponent,” Thompson said. “Our kids play hard and they don’t quit. Anytime you get a win like this you have to be pleased.”

It was the second win over St. Joe this season, which should help in the postseason tournament seedings.

“Our schedule is brutal,” said Thompson. “It doesn’t get any easier.”

Tug Valley shot 44% from the floor and 39% from behind the arc, making 7-18. They were 11-16 at the foul line for 69%.

For St. Joe, Isiah Sanders led with 16 points and Noah Keaton followed with 13.
