Myrtle Sue (Fields) Holbrooks

1941—2025

Myrtle Sue (Fields) Holbrooks, 83 years old, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, at St. Ann’s Hospital.

Born July 14, 1941, in Inez, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Robinson) Fields.

Sue grew up in Inez, graduating from Inez High School, and then soon relocated with family to Columbus.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Robert Fields Jr. and sisters Velva Jean Kohli and Ruby Walcutt.

Sue is survived by her son Bob (Katie) Holbrooks; grandchildren Riley, Maddox and Brady Holbrooks; nieces Terri (Jeff) Meyer, Karen (Ed) Scholl, Kim (Michael) Solomon, Dianna Walcutt and Mary (Michael) Williams; and many loving cousins in Ohio and Kentucky.

She worked many years for the State of Ohio before retiring to care for her mother, Mary.

Sue was an avid sports fan who loved all things Ohio State, but especially football and basketball. She found great joy spending time with lifelong friends at the American Legion Southway Post 144.

Visitation was held Feb. 4 at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI Funeral Home, 1068 S. High St. where funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 5. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High St | Rt 23 S.
