Martin County Youth Wrestling dominates Hatfield McCoy

PIKEVILLE — The Martin County Youth Cardinals dominated the Hatfield McCoy Youth Tournament on Dec. 29 at the Appalachian Wireless Arena in Pikeville, capturing first place among more than 60 teams.

Leading the charge, Nolan Muncy (10U heavyweight) won his weight class and earned the prestigious Most Outstanding Wrestler honor.

With standout performances across all divisions, the Cardinals demonstrated their skill and depth.

Starting with the 8U division, Lukas Mays showed out in the 49-pound category, taking home a first-place finish while Bransyn Hannah secured fifth.

Tyson Muncy dominated the 53-pound class, earning first place.

In the 62-pound division, Ezra Bowens claimed fourth and Eli Block rounded out the podium in sixth.

Jeremiah Vanhoose emerged as the champion at 70 pounds.

Meanwhile, David West showed out in the 85-pound class, clinching the top spot.

Moving into the 10U bracket, Lukas Mays returned to the mat to secure another first-place finish in the 49-53-pound category.

Tyson Muncy showed off his skill at 56 pounds, earning second place.

Greyson Maynard captured second in the 67-pound division, followed closely by Jeremiah Vanhoose in third.

The 84-pound division featured intense competition with Colten Anderson finishing second, David West claiming third and Jase Vanhoose taking fourth.

In the 93-pound class, Jonah McCoy earned fourth while Jason West finished sixth.

Highlighting the division was Nolan Muncy, who won first place in the HWT category and claimed the prestigious Most Outstanding Wrestler award.

The 12U division brought its own share of electrifying moments. Kenleigh Estep claimed first in the 67-70-pound category.

Greyson Maynard battled his way to fourth at 74 pounds.

Bryce Williamson achieved second place in the 78-pound division.

At 86 pounds, the action was fierce with Colten Anderson securing the championship, Jason West finishing third and Jase Vanhoose fifth.

Kennedy Maynard wrapped up the 12U division with a commendable fifth place at 108 pounds.

In the middle school (MS) division, the competition reached a fever pitch. Kenleigh Estep took second place at 77 pounds while James Wells captured third and Bruce Williamson finished fifth.

Brody Jewell dominated at 89 pounds to take first place.

Isaac Ward secured sixth in the 95-pound class.

Jayce Conley took fifth at 101 pounds.

Kennedy Maynard and Blake Lemaster competed fiercely at 108 pounds, with Lemaster claiming the top spot and Maynard finishing sixth.

Landon Estep earned third at 115 pounds.

Noah Bowens achieved a stellar first-place victory at 129 while Tripp Bowen finished fifth.

Easton Slone reigned supreme at 150 pounds.

The 165-pound division saw Corbin Blackburn secure second place and Noah McCoy finish fourth.

Keegan Moore emerged victorious in the 210-pound class.

Spencer Workman won the HWT class while Hayden Harless earned sixth place.

In the girls’ events, Harleigh Maynard claimed second place in the middle school lightweight category.

Kennedy Maynard claimed a second-place finish in the middleweight class.

Among the younger girls, Kenleigh Estep took first in the 4-6 lightweight category while Kianna Chaffins earned second in the light middleweight division.
