Betty Faye (Runyon) Maynard
1955—2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Betty Faye Maynard of Wittensville, who passed away peacefully Dec. 31, 2024 at the age of 69.

She was born Oct. 13, 1955 in Lawrence County.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice Laney (Runyon) and Chester Lee Runyon; brothers Robert (Doc) Runyon and Kenneth Runyon; sister Evelyn Castle; nephew Homerdale Castle; sisters-in-law Alma Dalton McKenzie, Mary Runyon and Judy Runyon; brothers-in-law Jimmy Castle and Roger Castle.

Betty is survived by her husband, Willard Maynard; three sons, Michael (Melissa) Maynard, Martin Maynard and Austin Maynard; one daughter, Amanda Maynard; and two stepsons, Willard Maynard Jr. (Lori) and David Maynard.

She was a devoted grandmother to Tyler Spradlin, Joseph Maynard (Rebecca Rigsby), Kaitlyn Spradlin (Timothy Cook), Alexis (Kayla) Maynard, Adam (June) Metcalf, Tamara Maynard, Hessie Maynard and Chelsey Jude. Great-grandchildren include Jailynn Workman, Isaac Maynard, Austin Maynard, Cloey Evans, Allena Hayes, Kennedy Stepp, Serenity Cook, Athena Maynard and Lily Blue Metcalf. They were all loved tremendously. Betty is also survived by her loving sister Joyce Castle and brothers Chester Runyon and Jimmy Ray Runyon.

We would like to especially thank those who helped take care of her in her last days on earth: Angela Jude, Bob Williamson and Billy Ray Hodge.

Pallbearers will be Michael Maynard, Martin Maynard, Austin Maynard, Joseph Maynard, Timothy Cook and Billy Ray Hodge.

A funeral service was conducted Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at the Crum Funeral Home, Inez. Burial followed on Cassell Branch Road at a private family cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Crum Funeral Home, Inez.
