Lady Panthers open 2025 with three wins in a row

The Lady Panthers of Tug Valley recorded three wins in a row on the first weekend of the New Year. They rolled over the Van Lady Bulldogs 77-13 Thursday (Jan. 2) in a makeup game at home. On Friday (Jan. 3) the ladies out-shot Man for a 58-20 victory on the road before returning to the homecourt Saturday (Jan. 4) to wear out Westside 47-37.

Below is a recap of the action from all three contests.

Tug 77, Man 13

All 12 players on the roster saw plenty of playing time for Coach Seth Ooten’s team and all 12 scored in the Thursday night 77-13 win over the Van Lady Bulldogs.

Tug Valley led 41-2 at halftime and cruised to the easy win. The victory improved their record to 7-2 on the season.

Katie Hall led the scoring with 13 points, while Bailee Hall was close behind with 12 points. Kylie DeBoard scored 11 and had five steals. Katelyn Richardson chipped in nine points, Kenzie Browning added eight and Haven Deskins tossed in five.

Bailee Hall pulled down eight boards and also had four steals.

Vanessa Tackett led Van with nine points.

Tug 58, Man 20

The Lady Panthers out-shot Man 58-20 Friday in a game at the Man Fieldhouse.

Tug Valley’s defense swarmed all over the court to force several turnovers and came up with several steals. The Lady Panthers led 19-0 after one quarter and 31-3 at the break.

Kenzie Browning led a balanced scoring attack firing in 16 points. Haven Deskins chipped in 11, Bailee Hall eight and Kyle DeBoard eight. Katelyn Richardson scored six off the bench.

DeBoard and Browning each had six steals, while Deskins had three.

Bailee Hall pulled down 13 rebounds while getting three steals. Teammate Katie Hall had eight boards.

Coach Seth Ooten’s team was scheduled to host Scott, Westside and River View this week, weather permitting.

The Lady Panthers improved to 8-2 on the season.

Tug 47, Westside 37

The Lady Panthers defeated visiting Westside 47-37 on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 4) at home.

Bailee Hall led the way with 13 points, 13 rebounds and three steals for Tug Valley. Haven Deskins scored eight points, handed out five assists and had three steals. Kenzie Browning added 11 points, while Kylie DeBoard chipped in eight and Katie Hall seven.

Sarah Lilly led Westside with 13 points, while Anna Usher scored 12.

Tug Valley improved to 9-2 on the season.
