Cardinals JV picks up two wins

INEZ — The Martin County High School boys JV squad picked up two wins in Inez. Below is a recap of JV action.

MC vs Grace Christian – Brayden Marcum and Aiden Copeland combined for 27 points en route to defeating Grace Christian 54-22 on Dec. 13.

The Cards jumped out to a 14-7 lead behind a pair of 3s from the point-leading Cardinals.

Marcum hit four more from behind the arc in the second quarter for a 36-16 halftime lead.

Alan Moore and Jaxson Pack reeled off two points each after the break and the Cards rolled on to a win.

Marcum fired in 14 points. Copeland flipped in 13 points for Martin County.

Pack was 2-2 at the line and finished with eight points.

Moore hit two from the charity stripe and finished with six points.

Chase Hinkle nailed a 3-pointer and had five points.

Braxton Maynard and Liam Fields netted four points each.

MC vs Huntington Express Prep – Aiden Copeland and Brayden Marcum hit for 17 and 16 points, respectively, to give Martin County a 54-46 win over H-town.

Marcum lit it up from 3-point range with three of them to get things going for the Cards.

Jaxson Pack picked up four points to send the Cards into the next quarter with an 18-6 lead.

He and Copeland would score four points before the half, but Huntington Prep made it a game with 19 second-quarter points to pull ahead two.

Liam Fields came alive out of the locker room for seven points to give the Cards a boost. Alan Moore hit two shots.

Copeland closed out the game with a trey and nine points in the fourth to seal the deal.

He finished the contest with 17 points including 4-4 at the free throw line.

Marcum hit four from deep and netted 16 points.

Pack busted through with eight points.

Fields scored seven points. Moore hit for six.
