Lena Mitchell
1953—2024

Lena Mitchell, 70, of Inez, passed away at her residence Dec. 11, 2024.

Born Dec. 18, 1953 in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Jasper Stepp and Gladys Fitch Stepp of Inez.

In addition to her father she is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Dean Mitchell; one brother, James Henry Stepp; two sisters, Susie Mollett and Dicie Greer; one sister-in-law, Susie Stepp; three brothers-in-law, Truman Hackney, Jim Hensley and Ray Mollett; and one niece, Sharion Yaunk.

Survivors include Lena’s son, Michael Dean (Melanie) Mitchell of Inez; two brothers Jasper Stepp of Tomahawk and Larry Stepp of Inez; two sisters, Irene Hensley and Judy (Gerald) Clark, both of Inez; two grandchildren, Zackry Mitchell (Makayla Johnson) of Floyd County and Caleb Mitchell of Lexington; one great-grandchild, Katrina Danielle Mitchell of Floyd County; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024 in the chapel of the Crum Funeral Home, Inez, with Sammy Patrick officiating. Burial followed at the Stepp Cemetery on Poplar Fork. Arrangements are under the direction of the Crum Funeral Home, Inez.
