Martin County Wrestling wins Ashland Invitational

ASHLAND — The Martin County High School wrestling team won the Ashland Invitational championship after attending the Tomcat Open on Dec. 7.

Several wrestlers delivered strong performances and placed high in their respective weight classes.

First-place winners included Jeremy Mollett (106 lbs), Jono Cline (120 lbs), Jeremy Begley (138 lbs), Parker Maynard (144 lbs) and Cole Jewell (190 lbs).

In second place, Weston Jude (157 lbs), Jake Stafford (165 lbs), George Lemaster (175 lbs), and Crayson Lafferty (190 lbs) contributed to the team’s overall success.

Third-place finishers were Julian Stafford (132 lbs), Chase Stacy (150 lbs), and Ryan Smith (215 lbs).

Fourth-place winners included Haskell Fugitt (150 lbs) and Bailey Crum (165 lbs).

James Begley (165 lbs) earned a fifth-place finish.

The squad will travel to Gatlinburg this weekend for the Smoky Mountain Duals.
