INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:

Brianna K. Ellis, 20, of Lexington, was arrested Monday on a bench warrant for court.

William Wallace Newsome, 36, of Kermit, West Virginia, was arrested Friday afternoon in Inez on Route 40 near Buck Creek Hill. His lineup of charges includes first-degree possession of a controlled substance/heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, tampering with physical evidence, a bench warrant and first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
Sheriff Kirk apprehended Newsome on a bench warrant. In the process, the sheriff reportedly discovered a container with a suspicious brownish substance in Newsome’s seat—suspected heroin. Alongside that were two clear bags holding traces of a white powdery residue and a used syringe. The sheriff found a handgun tucked into the glove compartment in front of Newsome, who reportedly stated he was a convicted felon.
Newsome’s story did not end there. When he was booked into the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, detention staff found a bag containing a white, crystal-like substance—believed to be methamphetamine—hidden in Newsome’s mouth.

Edna Nicole Simpkins, 33, of Salyersville, was arrested Nov. 29 on Route 40/ Blacklog Road in Inez for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance, failure to produce insurance and instructional permit violations.

Naomi Fletcher, 52, of Lovely, was arrested Nov. 27 in Lovely on a Pike County warrant for theft by unlawful taking or disposition (shoplifting) $500-$1,000. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd arrested Fletcher at around 1:30 p.m.

Harold D. Moore, 62, of Debord, was arrested Nov. 27 at Ed Moore Lane in Debord on a bench warrant from Pike District Court.

Elizabeth Horn, 35, of Beauty, was arrested Nov. 27 at Gordon Hollow Road in Beauty on a bench warrant from Martin District Court. Special Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest.

Charles Taft Garland, 41, of Warfield, was arrested Nov. 27 at Dempsey Housing in Warfield on a bench warrant from Martin District Court. Special Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest.
