Louella (Goble) Maynard Obituary

Louella (Goble) Maynard
1933—2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Louella (Goble) Maynard announces her passing from this earthly home Nov. 29, 2024, at the age of 90, following a short stay at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia.

Just shy of her 91st birthday, Lou will be missed by a host of family, brothers and sisters in Christ, friends, and the community of Inez, Kentucky. Sister Lou had a way of welcoming each one who stepped into the church building and would often sit by you until the services began. You knew she loved you “a bushel and a peck with a hug around the neck” if she offered you one of her Old-Fashioned Horehound Candies or when you received a phone call to check on you if she missed you at Church.

Church of Christ preacher Mitchell Salyers baptized Lou in the 1950s. She was a member of the Davella Church of Christ and her seat on the pew was faithfully occupied for many years. It will be hard to see her place empty but what a celebration she is having now.

She married Clyde E. Maynard in 1952 and was blessed with a son, Clyde Stanley.

She is preceded in death by parents Samuel and Docie Goble, husband Clyde E. Maynard, brothers Ralph Goble (who died in infancy), Hershel Howard Goble, Chester Goble, Alvis Martin Goble, Harold Ray Goble, Larry Goble and Lloyd Goble, sisters Alcie A. Goble (3-years-old), Shelby Jean (Goble) Howard, Susie Ellen (Goble) Fletcher, Donna Fay (Goble) Harless and Linda Carol (Goble) Griffith.

She is survived by her only son, Clyde Stanley and his wife Margarett and family, along with grandchildren Nicole Preece and Terry Lewis, and all the many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Roger Harless officiating. Burial will follow in the Goble Cemetery in Debord. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
