GILBERT CREEK, W.Va. — A high-stakes arrest went down late Friday night in the Gilbert Creek area of Mingo County. Police swooped in under the cover of darkness to apprehend 33-year-old Steven Coleman of Iaeger on a laundry list of felony drug possession and firearm charges.

The charges are a miniature parade of the state’s controlled substances—possession with intent to deliver on each of the following: meth, heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone, hydrocodone, cocaine, ecstasy, Dilaudid and suboxone.

Deputies B.T. Sipple and J. May of the Mingo County Sheriff’s Department, with backup from West Virginia State Police Troopers Vance and Morrison, also charged Coleman with possession of a firearm.

The whole affair went down around 10 p.m., culminating in Coleman being hauled before a Mingo County magistrate. From there, it was straight to the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden, where he awaits further proceedings.

Meanwhile, Sipple and May were not done. The duo later rolled into Delbarton and arrested Matthew J. May—no relation—for trespassing, grand larceny, entering without breaking, and possession of a controlled substance.

The MCSD wants everyone to know that all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
