Editor’s Note: The Rocket Docket program addresses the drug crisis by reducing the backlog of cases in circuit courts. It often prioritizes non-violent offenders and focuses on rehabilitation rather than lengthy incarceration. The program typically involves collaboration between defendants, judges, prosecutors, public defenders and treatment providers.

Defendants participating in Rocket Docket often agree to treatment plans, probation or alternative sentencing in exchange for expedited case resolution.
