INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:
Rita Lynn Maynard, 53, of Lovely, found herself in handcuffs Saturday in Warfield, facing charges of drug paraphernalia possession and endangering the welfare of a minor. Special Deputy J.C. Kirk said the stop occurred after Maynard’s vehicle repeatedly drifted out of her lane.
Maynard reportedly passed a sobriety test and attributed her erratic driving to glaucoma, explaining that it occasionally affects her vision. Things took a turn when she consented to a vehicle search. According to the police report, officers discovered a “meth pipe” and “burnt foil” in the car.
Maynard’s grandson was also present during the incident. Law enforcement subsequently released the child to his mother.
Nicholas L. Bowen, 28, of Inez, was arrested Saturday on Main Street, Inez, on bench warrants from Martin District Court. Deputy Kirk served the warrants.
Brenton Allen Johnson, 32, of Inez, was arrested Nov. 13 on Route 40 in Inez on a bench warrant. Sheriff Kirk served the warrant.
Taylor Howell, 26, of Lovely, was arrested Nov. 13 at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on a bench warrant. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd served the warrant.
