INEZ — Martin County High School will have its annual Cardinal Madness Red White this Saturday. The event gives the Cardinal faithful their first glimpse at this year’s boys and girls squads.
Inez Elementary will kick off the day at 2 p.m., followed by Eden Elementary with two games at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Martin County Middle School, coached by Michael Coleman, will take on Lenore in the 5 p.m. slot.
Coach Robin Newsome’s Lady Cards will take the floor at 6 p.m. offering a first glimpse at this year’s squad. Floor general Brooke Marcum, sharpshooter Chloe May and Maci Maynard, “the brute in the middle,” lead the 2024-2025 edition.
The ladies went 21-12 and finished as 57th District runner-up last season.
Coach Jason James’s Cardinals will take the floor at 7 p.m. in the nightcap. The Cards have a loaded roster and are the favorite to head to Rupp this season.
Peyton Davis, Parker Watts, Devan Maynard, Bryson Dials and Brayden Estep are some notable names on Martin County’s team.
Both the boys and girls teams will have intrasquad scrimmages and player introductions.
The boys are coming off a 23-10 season, a 15th Region tournament runner-up trophy and a 15th Region All “A” Classic runner-up.
Ticket price is $10 at the door and includes spaghetti dinner from 4-6 p.m.
