CITIZEN STAFF REPORT
INEZ — Eligible residents can pre-register for the Low-Income Heating Assistance Program’s (LIHEAP) fall subsidy, which offers financial aid to help cover heating costs during the colder months. While the official enrollment period runs from Nov. 5 through Dec. 20, certain residents can take advantage of an early registration window.
Pre-registration is open from Oct. 21 through Nov. 1 for households where the primary source of income is a fixed amount from Social Security, disability or other similar sources. Specifically, seniors aged 60 or older and individuals with disabilities who rely on fixed incomes can register early.
To pre-register, eligible participants should visit their local Community Action Program (CAP) office with the following documents:
Social Security cards for all household members
Proof of fixed income
Proof of residence, such as a utility bill
The most recent electric bill, if electricity is the household’s primary heat source
