PRESTONSBURG — Authorities are searching for Kenneth Kyle Greer following a high-speed pursuit Saturday night involving multiple law enforcement agencies across Pike and Floyd counties. Greer, already wanted on several active warrants for failure to appear, now faces additional charges related to the reckless chase.

According to the Prestonsburg Police Department’s statement issued Sunday night, Pikeville police first received reports around 11 p.m. Saturday of Greer’s 2021 GMC Sierra driving recklessly at speeds exceeding 100 mph on U.S. 23 near Foggy Mountain.

Officers soon located the vehicle, which immediately fled, reaching speeds over 120 mph and making a U-turn on U.S. 119 before returning to U.S. 23. The pursuit then crossed into Floyd County, where the Pikeville Police Department terminated their chase but continued efforts to locate the truck.

Surveillance footage from the Stanville Cardinal Country Store confirmed Greer was behind the wheel when he entered the store. Authorities said he shouted at the clerk to “hurry up” before fleeing the scene. By then, units from Floyd Sheriff’s Office and Prestonsburg Police Department were in pursuit. Greer nearly collided with an officer as he sped from the gas station onto U.S. 23.

The chase continued north toward Allen, with Greer reaching speeds above 120 mph and nearly striking another officer head-on. The pursuit ended on Cow Creek in the Endicott community, where Greer struck another vehicle before abandoning his truck and fleeing on foot.

Authorities later recovered and impounded the vehicle.

In what authorities described as a familiar tactic, Greer later reported the same truck stolen despite law enforcement having confirmed his involvement in the chase. Police noted that the vehicle, equipped with a push-button start, would be nearly impossible to steal without the keys. Greer’s false report adds another charge to his record.

Greer, who authorities said is known for evading arrest, remains at large with multiple outstanding warrants and a suspended license. He is also known to drive a black 3500 Silverado Dually with tinted windows or an older Ram Power Wagon.

Police posted a photo on social media of a black 3500 Silverado, which Greer reportedly was driving Sunday after ditching the Sierra.
