WARFIELD – Martin County Middle School hosted Kermit and South Floyd on their home floor on Sept. 24. The Cards came away with both wins defeating Kermit 34-12 and South Floyd 36-10. They traveled to Magoffin on Sept. 18 and dominated with a 46-11 win.

In the first match-up of the evening, Martin Co. jumped out quickly on Kermit when Annaleigh Davis nailed a three from the corner. On the ensuing play she picked a pocket and drove the length of the floor for two.

Davis hit her signature floater in the lane for a 7-0 lead and surpassed her 600th career point.

After a quick timeout, Lexi Cline converted the old-fashioned three-point play.

Power forward Bri Muncy got two quick rebounds off the board. One, she passed ahead to Davis for two. Next, she hit a jumper from the free throw line to end the first quarter.

The second quarter opened up with Lady Cards coming off the bench.

KB Muncy blocked a shot and threw the length of the floor to Zoe Sammons, who was fouled while going up. She knocked down two free throws to continue Martin County’s scoring streak.

Harleigh Maynard scored the next two for the Cards on the up-and-under.

Martin County entered halftime with a 25-9 lead and never looked back.

Davis finished with nine points. Sammons and Bradlyne Stafford flipped in four each.

Cline and Kinslee Callaham added three points.

Bri Muncy, Anna Hinkle, Maynard, Alivia Stacy, Jeannah Fleming and Sammy Byrd all scored two points in the balanced scoring effort.

Davis stayed on fire versus the South Floyd Raiders. She poured in 16 points to lead all scorers.

Cline was just shy of double digits with eight points.

Sammons added three.

Hinkle, Mills, KB Muncy and Stafford added a bucket each.

Stacy flipped in a free throw.

Point guard Annaleigh Davis led all scorers with 15 points against the Magoffin County Hornets.

Lexi Cline continues her display of her 3-point shooting capability. Cline hit four from behind the arc to finish the night with 12 points.

Young gun Harleigh Maynard came off the bench for six points.
