Burn ban lifted

INEZ — Martin County Judge/Executive Lon Lafferty has lifted a burn ban initially imposed on Sept. 9 following substantial rainfall and cooler temperatures.

“Residents must still adhere to state regulations restricting open burning during fire hazard season,” Lafferty said Thursday in an executive order.

The fall fire hazard season runs from Oct. 1 to Dec. 15, and the spring season from Feb. 15 to April 30.

According to KRS 149.400, it is illegal to set fire to flammable materials within 150 feet of woodland or brushland during fire hazard seasons, except between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
