Mingo County Sheriff’s Department testing for deputies

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — The Mingo County Sheriff’s Department (MCSD) is testing for new deputies.

The physical agility test and written exam will be Oct. 4. Applications must be turned in by Sept. 30 by noon at the courthouse on Second Avenue in downtown Williamson.

After finishing the police academy, deputies make $43,000 per year. There are PEIA health benefits and paid holidays.

Equipment will be provided and a take-home vehicle will be available.

Applicants must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or the equivalent, be U.S. citizens and meet all hiring guidelines.

There is a modified tattoo and beard policy.
