HAZARD — The OnPoint Swish (6-2) will host the first round of the Women’s American Basketball Association playoffs for their region Sept. 15 in Hazard at 2 p.m.

The winner advances to the Final Four in Greensboro, the Swish’s opponent.

OnPoint defeated the Kaos in a close one 70-62 in their last regular season game.

WABA All-Star Carla Booth has made history this year by starting the first professional women’s team in Kentucky.

Booth’s aspirations for this team are nothing short of a championship.

“We wouldn’t have been satisfied without making it to the final four. Winning the whole thing is the goal,” Booth said of her first season. “We’ve got the team to do it. I think we are clicking at the right time.”

A team that features previous WNBA players, including Makayla Epps and Victoria Dunlap, was destined for greatness.

“Everyone is fitting into their role, and we are getting better at playing together,” Booth said.

Coached by Martin County native Jason Wefenstette, the semi-pro action will take place at the historic Memorial Gym.

In what is a high-stakes matchup, the game is sure not to disappoint.
