MCHS soccer with two big wins

INEZ — The Martin County High School soccer team picked up two big wins last week. They mercy-ruled Shelby Valley 10-0 on Aug. 26 and dominated the Belfry Pirates 9-1 on Thursday.

Lexi Sammons and Faith Caldwell booted in two goals apiece for the Cards against Shelby Valley. Caldwell assisted on seven of the 10 goals.

In a balanced scoring affair, six more Cardinals scored. Laura Hale, Emily Ledford, Mia Preece, Chloe Jude, Kaylee Endicott and Grace Caldwell kicked in a goal for Martin County.

Preece assisted with two goals and G. Caldwell with one.

Vittoria Dellmotta had a save between the beams at goalie.

Against Belfry, Hale and F. Caldwell pushed three goals into the net.

Preece booted in two goals and G. Caldwell scored a goal.

Dellmotta had three saves as the goalkeeper.

Head coach Steven Gauze’s squad will host Johnson Central on Sept. 10 at Cardinal Stadium for a vital district matchup at 6:30 p.m.
