INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:
Forrest Hinkle Jr., 66, of Tomahawk, had a rough Sunday when he was pulled over on Trace Fork Road and arrested on a laundry list of charges, including DUI, first-degree possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana.
Deputies stopped Hinkle after spotting his vehicle swerving along the narrow, one-lane road. When Deputy Justin Bellamy approached the car, the smell of marijuana was unmistakable. Hinkle, who was with a male passenger, reportedly admitted to having smoked marijuana earlier in the day.
The situation escalated when officers searched the vehicle, turning up a small baggie of a crystal-like substance, bags of marijuana, rolling papers, additional baggies, five Phentermine pills, and a half-full can of Bud Light. Hinkle also faces charges of reckless driving, not wearing a seat belt, and failing to produce an insurance card.
Mikey Horn, 72, and Bonnie L. Horn, 70, residents of Inez, were taken into custody Saturday following an altercation at their home on Oakie Drive Spur. The two were charged with fourth-degree assault related to domestic violence, though no visible injuries were reported.
Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 5 p.m. after receiving reports of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, Deputy Justin Bellamy observed evidence of a struggle, including a spilled can of soda in the living room. Both individuals admitted that a verbal argument had escalated into physical violence.
According to statements provided to authorities, Bonnie Horn allegedly threw a stapler and a soda can at Mikey Horn before rising and striking him on the arms. In response, Mikey Horn reportedly pushed her away and then struck her on the back and shoulder with his cane.
The police report further notes that Bonnie Horn exhibited signs of impairment, including slurred speech and difficulty maintaining balance. She allegedly informed officers that she had taken two Valium.
Dustin Alexander Hiromato, 22, of Beauty, was taken into custody Friday along Blacklog Road in Inez, charged with driving on a DUI-suspended license and failing to notify the Department of Transportation of an address change. Deputy Bellamy made the arrest after Hiromato drove through a traffic safety checkpoint and presented a Kentucky ID card. According to the police report, dispatch informed Deputy Bellamy that Hiromato’s license had been suspended due to a prior DUI. The report also indicated that the address on Hiromato’s ID was listed as Paintsville, though he stated he had been residing in Beauty for about three weeks.
Brittany Gilmore, 32, of Inez, was arrested Friday at the McDonald’s parking lot in Inez on a bench warrant for court. Sheriff Kirk made the arrest.
Shawn Hopkins, 29, of Inez, was arrested Aug. 28 on North Milo Road for three counts of nonpayment of court costs, fees or fines. Deputy Bellamy made the arrest.
Lawrence Thompson, 53, of Louisa, found himself in handcuffs Aug. 28 on Buffalo Horn Road in Inez, facing charges of disorderly conduct, terroristic threatening and public intoxication.
The incident unfolded when Sheriff Kirk was conversing with another individual on the road outside Thompson’s home. Thompson, reportedly reeking of alcohol, stormed out of his house, hurling curses at the sheriff. Despite being asked to return inside, Thompson refused, escalating the situation with threatening remarks. The police report also notes that Thompson had been involved in an earlier altercation.
Larry Jude, 58, of Inez, was arrested Aug. 27 for possession of a controlled substance first degree (drug unspecified) and possession of controlled substance. Bellamy made the arrest.
Andy Stacy, 72, of Inez, was arrested Aug. 27 for careless driving, possession of a controlled substance first degree (drug unspecified) and possession of a controlled substance. Bellamy made the arrest.
William R. Evans, 55, of Warfield, was arrested Aug. 26 on Hode Road on a bench warrant for court. Deputy Bellamy made the arrest.
