INEZ — The Eden Lady Wildcats and Inez Indians began their seasons last week. Both teams came away with wins. The following is a recap of elementary action:
Eden at South Magoffin – On Aug. 19 the Eden A-team defeated South Magoffin 40-11.
Paige Stafford and Braylee Horn fired in 12 points apiece. Sarah McCoy flipped in six points. Charlie Mollett contributed with four. Martha Maynard, Paislee Hinkle, and Kami Fletcher each scored two.
The Eden B-team won 14-6.
Aubrey Wilson scored six points. Taytum Jennings and Charlie Mollett each pitched in with four.
Eden at Paintsville – On Aug. 20 the Eden A-team took down a tough Paintsville squad 38-29.
Paige Stafford blew away the competition with 28 points.
Braylee Horn buried eight points and Martha Maynard had two.
The Eden B-team won 30-13 behind 10 points from Harper Howell.
Charlie Mollett scored eight, Taytum Jennings had six, Aubry Wilson tallied four and Jennah McCoy two.
The Eden C-team won 9-4.
Kaydee Dials had four points, Lexi Hammond finished with three and Raelynn Jude had two.
Inez at Louisa East – On Aug. 20 the Inez A-team handily took down Louisa East by a score of 31-6.
Harper Runyon poured in 11 points. Kenleigh Estep followed with 10.
Macie Callaham had six points. Emily and Paisley Mooney each pitched in with two.
The Inez B-team was defeated by Louisa East 26-6. Layla Cline, Paisley Mooney, and Aubrey Maynard had two points each.
Eden vs Salyersville – On Aug. 21 the Eden A-team won 43-6 over Salyersville.
Paige Stafford dished out 13 points. Sarah McCoy fired in eight points.
Braylee Horn and Charlie Mollett each had six.
Taytum Jennings and Martha Maynard scored four apiece. Harper Howell pitched in with two.
The B-team narrowly escaped with a win 17-15.
Taytum Jennings flipped in six points. Aubrey Wilson scored five. Harper Howell had four points and Charlie Mollett nailed a bucket.
The Eden C-team won on a last-second shot 12-10.
Eden drove the length of the floor and put up a shot with three seconds remaining. Remy Williams grabbed the board and went back up as time expired to win the game for the Wildcats. She finished with six points.
Isabella Vinson, Kyleigh Horn and Kaydee Dials each pitched in with two points each.
Inez vs South Magoffin – On Thursday the Inez A-team stomped South Magoffin 41-5. Kenleigh Estep finished with a game-high 16 points.
Harper Runyon fired in nine for the Lady Indians. Macie Callaham tallied eight, Emily Mooney six and Jaylea Maynard two.
The Inez B-team escaped Magoffin 16-12. Kenna Hale and Paisley Mooney hit for six each. Ebony Arrorwood and Layla Cline recorded two points each.
