PRESTONSBURG — Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) hosted FAFSA Tailgate events to help students complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2024-2025 academic year. These events provided crucial support to students, ensuring they had the financial resources needed for a successful college experience.
Cathy Hurd-Crank, director of Financial Aid at BSCTC, emphasized the importance of these events, stating, “These FAFSA events allowed us to assist students in completing the 2024-2025 FAFSA. We reviewed the financial aid files of those who had completed the FAFSA. The file review allowed us to identify any issues before the beginning of the semester that may prevent delays in their disbursements.”
The FAFSA Tailgate events offered a welcoming and supportive environment where students and their families received one-on-one assistance from financial aid professionals. By providing this hands-on help, BSCTC hoped to alleviate the stress often associated with the financial assistance process.
In addition to completing the FAFSA, students asked questions about their financial aid packages and learned about additional funding options.
Reviewing financial aid files before the semester starts ensures students can focus on their studies without financial uncertainty.
