Vernon Stepp
1930—2024

Vernon Stepp, age 93, of Lovely, passed away Aug. 4, 2024, at Highlands Appalachian Regional Hospital in Prestonsburg.

He was born Nov. 11, 1930, in Pilgrim to the late Harrison and Edna Newsome Stepp.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Arizona (Maynard) Stepp; his daughter, Brenda Kay Stepp Sammons; and two brothers, Russell Stepp and Benny Newsome.

He is survived by two sons, James (Sue) Stepp of Louisa and Mitchell Lee (Patricia) Stepp of Crum, West Virginia; one brother, Prentice Newsome of Inez; and one sister, Ernestine Moore. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Brent (Sarah) Sammons, Chris (Glenna) Stepp and Misty (Harry) Deskins; seven great-grandchildren, Benjamin Sammons, Owen Sammons, Kristen Chloee Stepp, Brandi Watts, James Watts, Jack Stacy and Renee Stacy; and two great-great-grandchildren, Adalyn McBride and Grayson Watts.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home in Inez. Burial will follow at the Stepp Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
