MCDOWELL — Authorities are actively searching for “an armed and dangerous” man following a deadly fight Sunday night in McDowell.

Kentucky State Police Post 9 was dispatched Sunday to a residence on Kentucky Route 680 where police found one man deceased.

The preliminary investigation revealed a physical altercation occurred just before midnight between 41-year-old Michael Colley of Louisville and 53-year-old Patrick Shepherd of McDowell resulting in fatal injuries to Shepherd.

The Floyd County Coroner’s Office pronounced Shepherd dead at the scene. His body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Colley fled the scene before authorities arrived. Despite an extensive search of the area, he remains at large.

Colley is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, weighing 212 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored jacket, dark-colored sweatpants and athletic shoes.

Authorities caution that Colley should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on Colley’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Kentucky State Police at (606)-433-7711 or call 911.
