John Earnest Newsome
1980—2024

John Earnest Newsome, 43, of Kermit, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, due to injuries sustained in a car accident in McConnell.

John was born Aug. 25, 1980, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of James Richard Newsome and Lisa Colegrove Newsome, both of Kermit.

He was a truck driver and a member of Warfield Church of God.

In addition to his parents, John is survived by his wife, Judy Darlene Podunavac Newsome; his children, John Brady Newsome and Dakota Joseph Williams, both of Breeden; step-children, Nathaniel Hamilton of Mingo County and Kiara Hamilton of Dunbar; and two grandchildren, Samuel Jay Newsome and Paisley Ann Newsome. John also leaves behind his siblings, James Richard Newsome Jr. and Shawna Faye Newsome, both of Kermit, and Janelle Ratliff of South Point, Ohio, and a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4 at the Warfield Church of God, Warfield, Kentucky. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5 at the Warfield Church of God with Pastor Robbie May officiating. Burial will follow at the Newsome Ridge Cemetery in Naugatuck. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
