INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:
Crystal G. Bowen, 47, of Tomahawk, was arrested Tuesday on Bowen McGinnis Road in Tomahawk for disorderly conduct and terroristic threatening.
Sheriff Kirk was dispatched to the residence for a welfare check. Upon the sheriff’s arrival, Bowen became upset and “would not calm down.” According to the police report, Bowen was screaming and cursing, saying she was going to her mother’s house and whipping her mother’s [expletive] for calling in a welfare check.
Jeffery Pinson, 31, of Inez, was arrested Tuesday on Mac Pinson Drive in Inez on a warrant from Martin County Family Court. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd made the arrest.
Channing Dyer, 35, of Salyersville, was arrested Tuesday in Inez on a warrant for trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl), trafficking in a controlled substance (over 2 grams methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia-buy/possession and a bench warrant. Deputy David. Reffett made the arrest.
Billy Horn, 58, and Bertha Horn, 51, both of Inez, were arrested Monday on Turkey Creek in Inez for fourth degree assault (domestic violence) causing minor injury.
Deputy Kidd responded to a domestic in progress. Upon his arrival, Horn told the officer that Billy Horn had struck her in the neck causing a minor injury. She also stated he took her two minor girls “down the road.”
While the officer was speaking with Berha Horn, Billy Horn returned to the residence with the two juveniles. According to the police report, Billy Horn stated the female had thrown keys and a cup at him causing injury and that he struck her on the face/neck “jokingly” and did not think it was hard enough to leave a mark. Bertha Horn allegedly admitted that she threw the keys at him but said she did not realize it caused a cut on his wrist.
The officer contacted DSS and the two juveniles were removed for alternate placement.
Eric Tackett, 38, of Inez, was arrested Monday on New Route 3, Inez, for operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, no motorcycle operator’s license, trafficking in a controlled substance (over 2 grams methamphetamine) and trafficking in marijuana less than 8 ounces.
Deputy Reffett took Tackett into custody after he observed Tackett struggling to maintain his lane while driving a motorcycle. The deputy initiated the traffic stop and noted an odor of marijuana emanating from Tackett, although he did not appear impaired.
Upon searching Tackett, Deputy Reffett discovered a bag containing a crystal-like substance, a bag of marijuana, money and scales. Further investigation revealed that Tackett was operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license and did not have a motorcycle operator’s license.
Robert Dillion, 44, of Kermit, West Virginia, was arrested Monday on a warrant related to charges of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), assault, fourth degree (domestic violence) causing minor injury, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia buy/possession. Deputy Chapman made the arrest.
Paul Brewer, 40, of Kermit, West Virginia, was arrested Monday in Inez on two bench warrants. Deputy Dennis Hall made the arrest.
David Scott, 39, of Inez, was arrested Sunday on Coldwater Road for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a substance.
Deputy J.C. Kirk responded to a 911 call reporting a reckless driver. The deputy reported that Sheriff Kirk encountered Scott after Scott crashed his vehicle in a ditch near Bethel Church on Coldwater Road. According to the police report, Scott admitted to taking several THC-infused gummies, exhibited slurred speech, and failed a sobriety test.
Brandon Bartoe, 31, of Lovely, was arrested Sunday on Hode Road in Lovely for public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol), resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and drug paraphernalia-buy/possession. Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest.
Matthew Thompson, 23, of Tomahawk, was arrested Saturday on Wildcat Branch in Tomahawk on a bench warrant for court. Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest.
Brian Keith Robinette, 20, of Wellington, was arrested Friday in Inez for desecration of venerated objects, willfully setting fire on land that he does not own and criminal trespassing.
Robinette was identified as one of three suspects in a June 7 incident on God’s Promise Trail in Inez, where a fire was set on a prayer altar and a camera was removed from a radio tower and thrown down a hill. The identification came through video footage and interviews.
Deputy Kidd contacted Robinette on Thursday, and Robinette voluntarily came to the sheriff’s office Friday to provide a statement. According to the police report, Robinette admitted to starting the fire on the prayer altar, attributing his actions to alcohol consumption.
Alexandra Danielle Riddle, 20, of Wellington, was arrested Friday in Inez for desecration of venerated objects complicity, willfully setting fire on land that she does not own complicity and criminal trespassing.
Deputy Kidd reported that Riddle was part of an ongoing investigation into a June 7 incident on God’s Promise Trail. During the incident, a fire was set on a prayer altar and a camera was removed from a radio tower and thrown down a hill.
Riddle came to the sheriff’s office on Friday to give a statement after being contacted by Kidd the previous day. In a video interview, she admitted her involvement in the incident. Riddle explained that she was joking when surveillance audio captured her telling a male subject to climb the radio tower. She also stated that the fire and other actions were fueled by alcohol consumption.
Shawn Hopkins, 29, of Inez, was arrested Friday on KY-3 in Inez for operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, no registration plates, improper or no windshield, and failure of the owner to maintain required insurance. Deputy Kidd made the arrest.
Shawn Workman, 41, of Lovely, was arrested Thursday on Blacklog Road in Inez for all-terrain vehicle violations, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license and possession of marijuana.
Deputy Kidd conducted a traffic stop on Workman and reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana. During the stop, Kidd noticed a bulge in Workman’s right front pocket and asked him to empty his pockets. Workman allegedly pulled out a blue bag containing a green leafy substance, which he identified as marijuana.
Warren Jude, 62, and his son Tyler Jude, 35, both of Pilgrim, were arrested July 17 on KY-2032. Warren Jude was charged with assault fourth degree causing minor injury, while Tyler Jude was charged with menacing.
Deputy Kidd responded to a call on Warren Jude Road. Video footage at the scene showed Warren Jude striking a male victim in the head with a closed fist and knocking him to the ground. After the initial assault, Tyler Jude aggressively came at the victim while his wife tried to hold him back. Tyler Jude continued toward the victim and held him down on the ground with both hands.
The victim was bleeding from the head and was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
Calvin Fletcher, 65, of Warfield, was arrested July 17 on Howell Road in Warfield for assault fourth degree domestic violence with no visible injury.
Deputy J.C. Kirk responded to a call from a female reporting that Fletcher had pulled her hair, thrown a glass of milk at her, overturned a TV stand, and poured alcohol on her. Upon arrival, the officer found Fletcher irate and using profanity toward the female.
According to Deputy Kirk, Fletcher admitted to throwing the milk and consuming alcohol throughout the day.
Chelsey Jolas, 31, of Cookeville, Tennessee, was arrested July 16 on Milo Road in Tomahawk for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
According to Deputy Kidd, Jolas was a passenger in a vehicle whose driver was arrested for DUI. Jolas consented to a pat-down and allowed officers to search her handbag, where they found a glass pipe with residue. Jolas allegedly admitted to smoking methamphetamine.
Pierette Fletcher, 57, of Warfield, was arrested July 16 on Howell Road in Warfield for falsely reporting an incident. The 911 dispatch received three calls from a residence on Howell Road. The first two calls were disconnected, but dispatchers heard a woman yelling profanities and claiming a male was destroying property during the third call.
Deputy Kidd reported that when officers arrived at the scene, they found nothing destroyed. Fletcher and a male present at the location told law enforcement that nothing was happening.
According to the police report, Fletcher appeared intoxicated and had an open alcoholic beverage container.
Jason Vanover, 46, of Tomahawk, was arrested July 16 on KY-40 in Inez for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance.
Deputy Kidd responded to a report of a vehicle “all over the road.” Upon locating and following the vehicle, the deputy observed it swerving multiple times across the center line, leading to a traffic stop.
Kidd described Vanover as having glassy, bloodshot eyes, appearing nervous and sweating profusely. According to the arrest report, Vanover exhibited several indicators of impairment during a sobriety test.
Brittany Preston, 33, of Tomahawk, was arrested July 16 on Inez Mountain on a warrant charging her with harassing communications and a bench warrant. Deputy Kidd made the arrest.
