The Country Music Highway Tribute Show in Louisa this past weekend was a remarkable Appalachian affair.
Organized by Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR), it was the essence of Appalachian spirit, kinship and talent.
At the heart of the event was the symbolic passing of the torch from the legendary Ricky Skaggs to the 12-year-old prodigy Adalyn Ramey.
This moment, reminiscent of Skaggs’ own early encounter with Bill Monroe, captured the magic of musical legacy and mentorship.
It was a moment that defined the power of music in shaping lives and communities.
Joshua Ball, SOAR’s chief operating officer, deserves immense praise for his vision and dedication. His words reflect the profound impact of the CMH Tribute Show: “We were blown away at the incredible response from the community and tri-state region.”
Ball’s leadership, along with the tireless efforts of volunteers and sponsors, made this event a beacon of cultural pride and unity.
The lineup of performers was rich. Ricky Skaggs, with his unparalleled legacy in bluegrass, country and gospel music, headlined the show, bringing his storied career full circle. His performance drew folks from as far as Utah.
Noah Thompson, the “American Idol” season 20 winner, and Larry Cordle, the Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, both delivered unforgettable performances. Their stories of hard work and local roots run deep with the local audience.
The immense lineup was a grandstand of talent that hails from these hills.
The event’s success was also due to the generous contributions of sponsors and the unwavering support of volunteers. That’s what it takes to make things happen: everyone supporting everyone.
The show exemplifies how music can unite and uplift a community and its heritage and pride.
While the CMH Tribute Show moves to its next stop in Ashland, we extend a shoutout to SOAR, Joshua Ball, the volunteers and the sponsors for a wonderful community affair.
We also invite all neighbors and artists everywhere to come to Inez on Aug. 3 to support the Appalachian Artist Festival.
