CAMPBELLSVILLE — Martin County middle and high school wrestlers attended the three-day Fellowship of Christian Athletes camp at Campbellsville University on June 7-9.
The camp included world-class clinicians, tough competition and an FCA inspirational program.
Coaches Andrew Chaffin, Jason Jewell, BJ Slone, Ryan Kelly and Josh Muncy escorted 27 Martin County athletes to the camp.
The event was a mixture of faith-based teaching and wrestling.
The young wrestlers heard testimony from Olympic medalist Nate Carr and two-time National Champion David Carr.
Jim Gruenwald, a World Champion, spoke about his journey in the sport.
World-renowned wrestler Jason Nolf was in attendance. Nolf is a four-time national finalist and three-time national champ.
“Those guys are the equivalent to Micheal Jordan or Lebron James in the wrestling world,” Coach Chaffin explained.
The special guests ran a technique session and talked about how Christ guided them through their lives.
Coach Chaffin was pleased with the guests of honor and their interactions with the campers.
“They wrestled with the kids and played games, signed autographs, and passed down knowledge that they couldn’t get from anyone else,” Coach Chaffin said. “It was a great camp.”
