INEZ — A new event made its way to Martin County over the weekend. East Ky Youth Athletics, run by Kenny Maynard, hosted the first MLB hit, pitch and run event with over 25 participants and over 90 registered in the region.

Each athlete participated in a hitting, running and throwing competition. Scores were tallied from each event to contribute to an overall score.

The following are overall winners for each age division in baseball: 14U Skyler Green, 12U Jayce McCoy, 10U Rocco Maynard and Jason West, 8U Waylon Porter

Softball winners: 14U Harleigh Maynard, 10U Rylie Parks, 8U McKenlsee Noble

Best pitcher: Skyler Green and Jayce McCoy – baseball. Rylie Parks – softball

Best hitter: Skyler Green – baseball. Harleigh Maynard – softball

Best runner: Skyler Green – baseball. Rylie Parks – softball

There was a home run derby at the conclusion of the MLB event. Jayden Fletcher won and received a trophy. Gage Yates took runner-up and received a $25 Under Armour gift card.
