Eugene ‘Sweetie’ Moore
1937—2024

Eugene Moore, age 87, of Pilgrim, passed away June 23, 2024, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Born March 19, 1937, on Wolf Creek in Pilgrim, he was the son of the late Roosevelt and Lucy Mills Moore.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly K. Moore, four brothers, Mckinley Moore, Jonie Moore, Lacy Moore and Roosevelt Moore Jr., and two sisters, Addie Osborne and Vinnie Moore.

Eugene, affectionately known as “Sweetie,” is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Thelma Blackburn Moore; his son, Jobie Tracy (Shelby) Moore of Lowmansville; one brother, Ballard Moore of Inez; five sisters, Dorothy Robinson, Kinnie Preece and Arizona Horn, all of Inez, Virgie Muncy of Ulysses and Judy Kline of Logan, Ohio. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Trista (Shane) Stafford, Tera (Scott) McGinnis and Jobie (Scyler Bowen) Moore; three great-grandchildren, Parker Stafford, Paige Stafford and Waylon Moore; a special brother-in-law, Marion Duncan; and a special great-niece and nephew, Amy Lawson and Doug Jude.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home, Inez, with the Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating: Brother Todd Dials, Brother Tom Dials and Brother Richard Staton. Burial will follow at the family cemetery.

Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
