Otto Mills
1930—2024
Otto Mills, 94, of Tomahawk, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024, after a long stay at Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Paintsville.
Born April 21, 1930, he was the son of the late Garfield Mills and Cora Spence Mills.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Margaret, Sadie, Edward (Pete) and Richard, and nephews Bob and Jim.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Otto attended Pikeville College and then continued his education at Kent State. He served his country for two years and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Otto worked in retail and Apartment Management in Akron, Ohio, for several years. He then moved back to Tomahawk in 1975 to care for his father, where he continued to live in the family home.
Otto was a well-read man who enjoyed going to libraries, doing research, linguistics and writing. He was a gifted storyteller, especially about family history. He truly loved being around his family.
Services will be conducted Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Crum Funeral Home, Inez, with Jack Ward officiating. Friends may visit the funeral home Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Martin County Senior Citizens facility.
