Lackey, Vance named to Class A Honorable Mention All-State list

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Tug Valley seniors Conner Lackey and Julian Vance were both named to the Class A Honorable Mention All-State baseball list by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.

The two helped lead the Panthers to a good season this spring.

Vance and Lackey both had solid seasons this year for the Tug Valley’s baseball team.

Vance, a catcher and pitcher, led the team this season with a .392 batting average with one home run and 24 RBIs. He also had five doubles and five triples and his 38 base hits led the team. He also pitched some for the Panthers.

Lackey, a pitcher and DH, had a .360 batting average this season with a team-best 28 RBIs. He also had eight doubles. On the mound, Lackey battled arm troubles but went 2-3 with a sparkling 1.25. He struck out 47 batters and walked 13 in 28 innings of work.

Tug Valley closed out the 2024 season with a 13-18 overall record and 1-2 mark in Class A sectional play.
