Junior basketball league starts July 18 in Inez

INEZ — East KY Youth Athletics will be hosting the JR NBA/WNBA league at the Collier Community Center in Inez beginning July 18.

The program will run basketball camps, games and competitions for three hours every Thursday at 6 p.m. until Aug. 29.

Age groups are: 6U and 8U coed, 10U girls and boys, 12U girls and boys, and 14U girls and boys.

Week 1 will include a skills and drills competition for all participants.

Weeks 2 and 3 are three-hour camps to include teaching and instruction.

Weeks 4 through 7 are games based on age division with stats recorded and competitions streamed live.

Challenges will be given to each child weekly to complete at home.

The league will also complete community service projects and activities. Completion of the tasks will earn entry into end of the season giveaways.

Registration fee is $75 to cover jerseys, use of gymnasium and supplies. Players will receive awards at the conclusion of the league.

Players must sign up by July 13.

East KY Youth Athletics is a nonprofit and all proceeds are used toward the operation of the program.
