INEZ — Brayden Marcum and Tyler Goble won Anglers of the Year in the Kentucky Bassmaster Nation Junior Division at Herrington Lake on May 31.
The two Martin County Middle School anglers finished first in AOY Points. They will advance to the Bassmaster Junior National Championship next month at Lake Chickamauga in Tennessee, one of three teams in the state to qualify.
Marcum and Goble won first place in the Ninth Annual Bradley Roy Junior Open Championship in 2021 on Lake Cumberland, the first junior winners from this area. In 2023, they were the first junior team from Martin County to qualify for the Bassmaster Championship.
Brent Haney coaches the high school and junior teams while Charley Fitch serves as boat captain and coaches the boys on-boat in every tournament.
The national event is set for July 26-27.
