Cecil Parsons
1942—2024
Cecil Parsons, age 81, of Pilgrim, passed away May 21, 2024, at Riverview Healthcare in Prestonsburg.
Born July 5, 1942, in Lincoln County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Calvin and Gertrude Adkins Parsons.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Ed Parsons, and four brothers, Ernest Parsons, Alvin Parsons, George Odell Parsons and Wandell Parsons.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Jude Parsons, two daughters, Jennifer (Randy) Simpkins of Oil Springs and Pearl (Kevin) Buehner of Nicholasville, and one sister, Iness Perry of Lovely. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Logan Simpkins of Winchester and Cameron, Bryce and Blake Buehner, all of Nicholasville; a dear cousin, Arthur Paul Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
Cecil was baptized in 1971 and was a member of the Mouth of Emily Union United Baptist Church. He spent many years as a coal miner and loved to fill his spare time with singing and gardening.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Crum Funeral Home chapel with Terry Harmon and Noah White officiating. Burial will follow at the Jude Fletcher Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
